No other capital in Europe is developing with greater dynamism than Oslo. The city can look back on a thousand-year history, which originates in the east of the city. At our photo stop in Gamlebyen, the historical beginning of the city, the Middle Age meets the modern fjord architecture, from where the city developed rapidly. The remains of the first royal court are today nestled among the colorful houses of the old town and testify to Oslos’s first blossoming in the 11th century.
On the way to the modern side of Oslo we explore the important sights of the city center and we have another photo stop at the City Hall, the location of the annual Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. The interiors of the City Hall tell of the history of Oslo and Norway and could not be more different in their design. The town hall square is a popular place to stay in the summer and also popular with the locals. On this tour we will explain the historical buildings, but also to show Oslo’s lifestyle and how the Norwegians tick.
Through the western part of the town, we reach one of the most popular viewpoints over Oslo, the ski jumping hill at Holmenkollen. Here we enjoy the breathtaking view to the capital and the Oslofjord. It is said that the Norwegians are born with skis on their feet. The terrain at Holmenkollen leaves no room for doubt.
After the last photo stop, we return to the starting point, where our tour ends.
