From the meeting point the bus will take us through the beautiful area outside Åndalsnes, to the land of the trolls. Throughout this excursion our guide will share many interesting facts and fascinating stories with you.
First the bus will drive us via Ørskog Mountain to Sjøholt, a part of Møre og Romsdal which is well-known for the furniture industry. From Sjøholt, the road along the Storfjord will lead you via Stordal and its Rose Church (built in 1789) to Valldal, famous for its delicious strawberries from about July to August. If you are lucky you will also be able to taste them.
A stop will be made at the scenic canyon of Gudbrandsdjuvet before we head upwards the magnificent mountain area to the Trollstigen Plateau. From here we’ll be able to enjoy magnificent views of the wild, unspoilt mountains and the Isterdal Valley. Then we sneak down the steep mountain side via the famous serpentine Trollstigen Road with 11-hairpin bends in total – be sure to watch out for the Trolls! Then there will be a photo stop in the valley to admire the lovely, cascading 590-foot Stigfossen Waterfall.
The tour goes on to the famous Troll Wall, the tallest vertical rock face in Europe, about 1,100 metres from its base to the summit. The views from the overhanging ledge are incredible.
On the return journey we will see the Rauma Railway beside the road leading us back to Åndalsnes.
A tour of lowlands and highlands, churches, strawberries, hairpin roads, waterfalls, mountains and amazing views, truly a tour to remember.
