Trondheim, Norway

In Trondheim, well-known attractions such as Nidaros Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace await you, cozy shopping streets and a large selection of eateries with short-traveled delicacies on the menu.

With a population of 193,000, Trondheim is Norway's third largest city. It is also known as a city of students, which make up around 30,000. The city was founded as early as 997 AD and had until the Middle Ages the name Nidaros. It was the capital of Norway between 1030 - 1217.

Trondheim has several attractions that are among the best visited in Trøndelag every year. Nidaros Cathedral right in the center is an impressive sight. The history of the cathedral and Olav the saint also makes it one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Europe. The road to Trondheim has the status of European cultural road, in line with the routes to Rome and Santiago de Compostela.

Just outside the city you find a large outdoor area which is great for walking and hiking.

The intimate city center is combined with many shops, especially in Bakklandet, with it’s special atmosphere.
